From Noi Bai International Airport

If you’re flying in, you’ll need to cover roughly 190 kilometers from Noi Bai International Airport to Ha Long Bay. Just a bit longer, but still manageable! This distance might seem a little daunting after a long flight, but rest assured that there are plenty of comfortable transport options to get you there smoothly. The airport is well-connected, and you can easily hop on a shuttle bus, book a taxi, or even arrange for a limousine service.

You’ve got a couple of routes to choose from. The 5B National Highway (Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway) is generally quicker than the National Road 18. Expect the trip to take anywhere from 2.5 to 3.5 hours depending on your mode of transport and traffic.

  • Average Travel Time: 2.5 - 3 hours

  • Cost: From 100,000 to 250,000 VND.

If you’re watching your budget, local buses are a fantastic option. Head to My Dinh, Giap Bat, or Gia Lam bus stations to catch a ride.

By shuttle bus

  • Distance: Approximately 170 kilometers

  • Average Travel Time: 2.5 - 3 hours

  • Cost: Between 350,000 - 500,000 VND.

Shuttle buses strike a balance between comfort and cost. They’re efficient and convenient, especially if you’re staying in the Old Quarter.

By limousine

  • Distance: Approximately 170 kilometers

  • Average Travel Time: About 2.5 hours

  • Cost: Around 575,000 VND.

For a bit more luxury, consider a limousine service. With comfy seats and amenities like Wi-Fi and massage chairs, you can sit back and relax as you cruise to Ha Long Bay.

By motorbike

  • Average Travel Time: 3 - 4 hours.

Feeling adventurous? Renting a motorbike in Hanoi lets you explore at your own pace. Expect to pay around 118,000 to 164,000 VND per day. There are two main routes you can take, either through Bac Ninh or Hai Duong.

By train

  • Distance: Approximately 164 kilometers

  • Average Travel Time: 6 hours and 45 minutes

  • Cost: Around 92,000 VND.

For a unique experience, consider taking the train. It’s the slowest option but offers stunning views along the way. Just catch train No. 50501 from Yen Vien Station.

How to get from Noi Bai Airport to Ha Long Bay

Traveling from Noi Bai International Airport to Ha Long Bay is straightforward, with several options to suit different budgets and preferences.

By bus

Buses from the airport are a budget-friendly option, especially if you’re traveling with a lot of luggage. Anbasco operates a convenient shuttle service that runs directly to Ha Long Bay, with fares starting at 290,000 VND per person. This is a great choice for those looking to save some money while enjoying a comfortable ride. The buses are equipped to handle luggage, making it easier to navigate your belongings.

If you prefer a slightly different route, you can take bus number 17 to Gia Lam Bus Station. From there, you can catch another bus to Ha Long Bay. This option may require a bit more time and planning, but it’s a great way to immerse yourself in the local experience while getting to your destination.

By taxi

For those who value flexibility and convenience, taking a taxi is an excellent choice. The cost for a ride from the airport to Ha Long Bay is approximately 1.3 to 1.5 million VND for a standard taxi accommodating up to four passengers. This option allows you to travel at your own pace, with the added benefit of direct door-to-door service. If you’re traveling with a larger group, consider booking a 7-seater taxi, which can be more economical and comfortable for everyone.
